Hub Motor

Hub motors, also known as hub motors or in-wheel motors, are electric motors that are integrated directly into the wheel hub. This design combines the motor and wheel into a single unit, eliminating the need for external drives, chains or gears in many applications.

It is divided into two main categories: geared hub motors and gearless hub motors.

Gear-driven hub motors utilize internal gears to reduce the motor's high RPMs to usable wheel speeds, providing higher torque at lower speeds, ideal for hilly terrain. This type of motor is typically used for products such as wheelbarrows, unicycles, etc. Individual motors can also be used for regular large-duty farm vehicles or with encoders to make four-wheel drive farm vehicles.

The internal structure of the gearless hub motor is more traditional, without the complex planetary reduction device, directly relying on electromagnetic conversion to generate mechanical energy to drive the vehicle. This type of motor is primarily used in e-bikes and scooters, which are ideal for urban commuting, off-road riding, and other applications where efficiency and low maintenance are important.
